11 Things To Do At Home During COVID Quarantine
Feeling restless? Like most of the world, COVID-19 social distancing has most of us stuck at home. This is a very rough situation we are living in, but here is a comprehensive list of things to consider as you pass the time!
1. LEARN A NEW SKILL, OR IMPROVE ON ONE YOU NEVER MADE TIME FOR
Young, old, ugly, or otherwise…. EVERYBODY should try to learn new skills or improve on their current skills. Besides, NOW you have time.
2. GIVE BACK!
No matter your current situation, someone always has LESS. Big or small, your contributions can help. I was at my local Wal-Mart last week (you know.. looking for TP), and I was lucky enough to get a 3-pack of disinfectant wipes. I live alone, and I don’t have immediate use for all 3 containers of wipes. So, I gave away the other 2 to another Family behind me. It's that simple!
3.TACKLE THAT NETFLIX SERIES YOU’VE BEEN SITTING ON.
I don’t have cable at home, and rarely make time for Netflix, but I finally finished Season 1 of “Abstract”. It’s a series surrounding modern design. My favorite episode, of course, #2 where they go into the Footwear Design with legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield.
4. REACH OUT TO A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER THAT YOU’VE NOT SPOKEN TO IN A LONG WHILE.
There’s never a “too late” or wrong time to reconnect. Pick up the phone, shoot a Facebook message, or heck- grab that paper & pen!
5. GET TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS.
It may be ‘Tim the Tool Man from Home Improvement’ style (through the fence), but more & more of us are seeing our neighbors on a daily basis with the nationwide stay-at-home order. Why not chat it up?
6. DO YOUR RESEARCH.
With so many news outlets available to us for information about the corona virus, it’s easy to be pulled in several directions about what’s going on. Go with your gut instinct, past experiences, a professional, and take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY in believing what’s best for you and your Family. This applies not only to the current state of the world, but with EVERY situation.
7. STAY SAFE & HEALTHY.
If you absolutely must go out in public… do so, but with caution. It may seem like common sense to take precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, but everyone is NOT on the same wavelength. Take care of YOU first!
8. SCROLL THE WORKS OF YOUR FAVORITE ARTIST OR CREATIVE.
9. STAY CONNECTED.
Yes… # 4 suggests you reconnect with a Family or Friend you’ve not spoken to in a while, but staying up to date with your closest Friends and Family should remain a priority. In one way or another, this is your support group… and those you need the MOST when things get rough. Face Time & Zoom are a couple ways to stay connected visually. Don’t let this short term quarantine be the reason why you lose touch with those long term relationships that matter the most.
10. REASSURE.
If you have little ones at home (small children), they may be a bit confused why they were suddenly removed from school. The best thing to do is to be up front & honest about what’s going on in the world, and let them know everything will be OKAY. Every struggle in life, every hurdle, every setback & fall… well, we’ve gotten through it, right? This too, shall pass.
11. PUT A SMILE ON SOMEONE’S FACE.
You can do this by entering to WIN a custom portrait on vinyl record. Did you really think I was going to reach out and NOT give a chance for you to hang up some cool art?
